Greetings From Our Principal: Dr. Danielle Daniels
It gives me great pleasure to virtually welcome you to Kennedy Elementary. This is my first year as principal of Kennedy and I am honored to serve this wonderful community! Livonia Public Schools is one of the best districts in the state of Michigan and I am honored to be a part of it.
Kennedy Elementary has a long history of providing quality education for all students. We are a school community that prides itself in academic achievement; family involvement; and a positive, caring learning environment for all. We currently have approximately 350 students in grades K-4.
Kennedy is also home to the K-4 VI (Visually Impaired) program for the district. Currently, there are eight students who are part of our Kennedy team. The students will be mainstreamed into classrooms for various studies and or specials. This is a wonderful opportunity for all of us!
Our goal at Kennedy is to have open, ongoing communication and cooperation between home and school. We welcome the opportunity to team with you to make the early elementary years as pleasant and productive as possible.
We feature an exciting curriculum designed to meet the needs of each individual learner. We are an NCA accredited school and are continually working on enhancing our curriculum. Our teaching is in line with the Michigan Curriculum Framework and designed to include the new Grade Level Content Expectations, as well as, research based implementation of best practice. Students also receive weekly instruction in the areas of art, music, physical education, and library media.
The staff at Kennedy Elementary school is dedicated to student learning and increasing student achievement. Our PTA (parent teacher association) is an outstanding addition to our school team. Their constant support through their volunteer and fund raising effort have a significant impact on our students’ educational environment.
I am honored to be a part of the Kennedy community. It is my belief that parents and our community are our partners in the educational process. Please feel free to always share your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions.
Dr. Daniels Professional Life:
This is my eleventh year working in Livonia. Before coming to Kennedy, I was the principal at Randolph Elementary for five years. I also taught 6th grade at Taylor Elementary, 2nd grade at Roosevelt Elementary, and was the district Literacy Facilitator. I previously taught 5th grade in Springfield, MO and Kindergarten and 3rd grade in Kill Devil Hills, NC. Teaching is my passion and working with children has always been my dream!
Dr. Daniels Education:
I completed my bachelors degree in Elementary and Middle School Education with a concentration in Science at Evangel University in Springfield, MO. This is a small private university that offered high quality education in an intimate setting. I then completed my masters degree in Education with an emphasis on Differentiated instruction in Literacy and Math from Regent University.
In June of 2009 I completed my Ph.D. in Educational Leadership for K-12 Education and conducted a two year dissertation on education leadership in the midst of curricular changes. My schooling was completed at Capella University.
Dr. Daniels Personal Life:
I am a mom to three amazing daughters. I have a 20 year old daughter named Samantha. Samantha was my foster daughter for three years, and became a Daniels when she was 13. Chloe is my reflective and witty 5 year old who is starting Kindergarten this year in Plymouth-Canton Schools and Ava is my very active 3 year old. We live in Plymouth (formerly Livonia), so our past times are trips to downtown Plymouth's fountain in Kellogg Park, Lifetime Fitness in Canton and our local church, NorthRidge. Being previous residents of Livonia and with family living in the area we are at the Livonia Recreation Center often and we enjoy the beautiful parks in Livonia with friends. We are fortunate to have much of our family in the area, but also have immediate family in NC, CA, and Paris, France.
Dr. Daniels and Kennedy:
I love being a principal and look forward to getting to know the Kennedy Community. Our staff and students are committed to being exceptional citizens! We seek to work in close partnership with parents and the community to provide our Kennedy students with educational opportunities of the very highest quality. We are a community that prides itself on its academic achievement, family involvement, and a positive learning environment for all.
I am always excited to hear from parents. I welcome your e-mails and phone calls and hope that each of you feels free to stop in personally and chat with me.
